Four steps, in order. Most reunifications happen within hours when the chip gets scanned early — and every step below is free.
Move them somewhere secure and calm. If they're injured, contact a vet first — vets treat emergencies regardless of who owns the animal.
Many veterinary practices, rescue centres and dog wardens can scan a found animal; contact them first where possible. Ask them to check the whole body — chips can migrate under the skin.
Enter the 15-digit number at our microchip lookup. We check the Aegis registry, then route you to other UK databases if the record lives elsewhere.
Contacting your local dog warden is a legal requirement when you find a dog — even if you intend to care for the dog yourself.
Tell us what you've found. If the chip is on a lost-flagged record we alert the keeper immediately — through the platform, so neither of you sees the other's details unless you choose to share them. You'll get a reference to quote if you call.
